About Jane Wood

Jane Wood is a Florida Keys artist whose work celebrates the wildlife, beauty, and spirit of island life. As an acrylic painter and mixed-media sculptress, she creates whimsical, story-driven works inspired by the unique ecosystems of the Keys.

Wood earned a degree from Southern Illinois University, where she studied both art and biology—a combination that deeply informs her careful observation of the natural world. After a successful career as a marketing executive and business owner, she relocated to Big Pine Key in 2016 to devote herself fully to her studio practice.

She creates under the mentorship of internationally renowned artist Jane Filer, whose guidance and friendship continue to shape her artistic journey.

Drawing inspiration from the key deer, herons, and mangroves surrounding her home, Wood’s artwork invites viewers to slow down, look deeper, and reconnect with nature. She currently serves on the Advisory Board of the Florida Keys Council of the Arts.
